Regardless of vaccination, staff and students should not come to school if they are experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19. Follow the DOH symptom flowchart.

Staff and students may return if no fever within the past 24 hours and symptoms have improved

If symptoms persist, DOH recommends re-testing every 1-2 days for 5 days after symptom onset.

When Symptoms Develop at School:

If a student develops symptoms during the school day they will be sent the the health room and asked to put on a mask because the health room is considered a health care setting. Parents/guardians will be called to pick up the student. Upon request, a free COVID test can be sent home with the student.

Every family is required to have up-to-date contact information and emergency contacts in Skyward.

If Exposed to COVID:

Students and staff exposed to COVID-19 may continue to come to school, including sports, performing arts, and other extracurricular activities, as long as they are not symptomatic.

Washington DOH recommends testing after exposure, monitoring for symptoms, and wearing a mask for 10 days after the last exposure.

If you Test Positive for COVID:

If you test positive for COVID-19 stay home for at least 5 days starting at symptom onset or positive test result date.

Please notify your school of a positive test. Persons may return on day 6 if fever-free for 24 hours and symptoms have improved. Individuals are recommended to wear a mask on days 6-10.  Testing after day 10 is not recommended.

Notification Protocol for Confirmed Positive COVID Cases:

Please notify your school if you test positive for COVID-19. We will continue to monitor for outbreaks. In the event of an outbreak, we will follow Skagit County Public Health outbreak response requirements.

Masks:

Students and staff may choose to wear a mask at school and mask choices will be respected. Individuals who are immunocompromised, medically fragile or otherwise at high risk for severe disease, should consult their health care provider about whether to wear a mask.
