Anacortes School District Welcomes Molly Mitchell-Mumma as Executive Director of Academic Services and School Support

The Anacortes School District is pleased to announce the selection of Molly Mitchell-Mumma as the Executive Director of Academic Services and School Support, effective July 1, 2025.

Mitchell-Mumma brings over two decades of experience in public education, including leadership roles in curriculum development, professional learning, instructional equity, and school improvement. She currently serves as the Director of Human Resources and Academic Services for the Lynden School District, where she has led initiatives to align instructional practices with district goals, support multilingual learners, and mentor school leaders.

“I am thrilled to join the Anacortes School District in this role,” said Mitchell-Mumma. “The district’s deep commitment to educational excellence, equity, and student-centered learning aligns strongly with my own values. I look forward to partnering with educators, families, and the broader community to support meaningful learning for all students.”

Mitchell-Mumma will step into the role previously held by Dr. Becky Clifford, who has been named the next Superintendent of the South Whidbey School District, also effective July 1. Dr. Clifford has served as Anacortes’ Assistant Superintendent since 2021, playing a pivotal role in strengthening curriculum, mental health supports, community partnerships, and special education services.

Superintendent Dr. Justin Irish shared, “Molly brings a strong track record of leadership, deep instructional knowledge, and a heart for students. She is well-prepared to build on the solid foundation Dr. Clifford has helped establish, and we are confident in her ability to support our schools and lead with purpose."
