The Anacortes School District provides transportation to and from school for PreK-12th grade students who live more than one mile walking distance from their home school. We utilize over 25 buses to transport student to and from school and extra-curricular/sporting events. Our goal is to provide both a safe and enjoyable school bus ride for all students.

Our buses are equipped with GPS units and onboard cameras. These systems aid in locating buses in emergency situations, help with routing efficiency and assist our drivers and schools in supporting positive student behavior on the bus.

We encourage students to arrive at their bus stop 5 minutes prior to the scheduled pick-up time and ride the bus to AND from their regular bus stop.

In case of adverse weather conditions including snow and flooding or unexpected emergencies, school closure and/or changes in transportation schedules may occur. During these emergency situations, be prepared for possible delays involving school bus pick-up/drop-off times and locations.

 

For younger students, parents and family members are encouraged to wait with and meet their students at the Adverse Weather Routes stop. Younger students may not be allowed to get off the bus if they are unsure of how to get to their house or do not have an older sibling or neighbor to walk with. In these situations, students will be returned to school to wait for a family member to pick them up.

 

For all students, timing at Adverse Weather Routes stops could be several minutes earlier or later than normal stop times. Plan and dress accordingly for changing weather conditions.

 

For students with special transportation needs, families will be given information about changes to their stop time or location for adverse weather when changes are necessary.

 

Here are the Adverse weather routes by neighborhood:

 

  • Padilla Heights Road: Students catch the bus at Molly Lane and Reservation Road.
     
  • Satterlee Road from Christiansen to Gibralter and Thompson Road: Students catch the bus at Summit Park Road and Thompson Road at the Church.
     
  • Sharpe Road: Students catch the bus at Lake Erie Store or Rosario Road and Sharpe Road.
     
  • Rosario Road between the Lake Erie Store and Marine Wye Road: Students meet the bus at the Lake Erie Store.
     
  • Deception Road, Dewey Crest, Dewey Beach Road & Central Avenue: Students catch the bus at Yokeko Drive.
     
  • Hwy 20 between Deception Road and the Shrimp Shack: Students catch the bus at behind the Shrimp Shack at the Fire Station.
     
  • Upper Skyline, Cedar Glen area, Bryce and Clyde: Students catch the bus at Kingsway & Anaco Beach Road or Bryce Drive and Anaco Beach Road.
     
  • Piper, Yorkshire & Devonshire: Students catch the bus at Anaco Beach Road and Sterling Road.
     
  • West 2nd and Jackson: Students catch the bus at West 3rd Street and Illinois Avenue.
     
  • 15th Street up to 21st Street and D Avenue: Students catch the bus at 17th Street and D Avenue.
