Andy Wilken has been hired as the district’s next maintenance supervisor, replacing retiring supervisor Marty Yates. Yates will retire at the end of April after serving with the district for 31 years.

Wilken currently serves as a maintenance supervisor for Western Washington University, overseeing campus maintenance, purchasing, and staff. Wilken has also worked at WWU’s Shannon Point Marine Center in Anacortes, providing preventative and corrective maintenance. Wilken served in the United States Army and holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree from Northern Illinois University.

“We had an excellent pool of candidates for this position, and ultimately chose Andy for his wide range of experience managing different maintenance systems, supervisory skills, and excellent references,” said Dave Cram, Executive Director of Finance and Operations.

Wilken will oversee the district’s maintenance and custodial staff, and manage the district’s buildings, grounds, and equipment. The maintenance supervisor also serves on the district’s leadership team, ensuring that the district’s infrastructure meets its instructional needs.

“I am excited to join the team at the district, learn about systems currently in place, get to know the staff, and help ensure that the district’s facilities continue to meet the needs of students and staff,” said Wilken.

Wilken is expected to begin mid-April to allow for transition and training time with Yates.
