The Anacortes School District is currently going through a Superintendent search process. The new superintendent will begin their position with the 2020-21 school year. Current Superintendent Mark Wenzel will be leaving the district at the end of the 2019-2020 school year to pursue an international superintendent job. 

Wenzel leaves the district in a strong position, with high test scores, a new high school campus, strong social-emotional programs, an equity focus, and greater alignment of curricula across all grades and subjects.

Search process 

The Anacortes School Board has contracted with Northwest Leadership Associates to assist with the search. There will be multiple opportunities for input from staff, parents and community members. The position will be posted mid-November.
