CERTIFICATED STAFF – Credits & Clock Hours Documentation for Salary Placement

Please remember the following when submitting documentation of credits and clock hours earned for the purpose of calculating salary placement:

  • Academic credits must be submitted via official transcripts from an accredited college or university.
  • SPU clock hours must be submitted via official transcripts.
  • Clock hour forms must be signed by the provider in order to verify the hours have been earned. Clock hour forms submitted for salary placement can be photocopies.
  • Employees are responsible for completing all the necessary steps through the ProDev clock hour program in order to earn clock hours through Anacortes School District to Human Resources.  Documentation for all the completed classes will automatically be submitted to Human Resources and included in salary placement calculations. https://anacortesprodev.myschooldata.net/Home.aspx

In addition, although submission of the Eligible Credits for Salary Placement form is no longer required, courses for credit or clock hours earned after September 1, 1995, must satisfy at least one of the following criteria in order for the credits or clock hours to be recognized for salary placement:

DOCUMENTATION OF ACADEMIC CREDITS

By state law, we convert all credits to quarter hours for recording and determining your schedule placement. Shown below are the standard conversions:

Credit Type

Conversion to Quarter Hours

Quarter

1.0 Quarter = 1.0 Quarter Hour Credits

Semester

1.0 Semester = 1.5 Quarter Hour Credits

Units

Some institutions record in units. The transcript will identify that conversion. For example, some institutions are 1.0 Unit = 5 Quarter Hour Credits, and some are 1.0 Unit = 6 Quarter Hour Credits.

Clock Hours

10.0 Clock Hours = 1.0 Quarter Hour Credits. *Clock hours are NOT academic credits. See the Clock Hour information below.
